Juliano Mer Khamis, Palestinian director, actor, and activist, was assassinated yesterday in Jenin by masked gunmen who fired five bullets into his heart. The bullets were meant to kill a brave visionary man and all that he stood for: culture as resistance, freedom and dignity, and the future.
Juliano will live because his vision is the only way out. His work has touched the lives of many. They will make sure that he stays with us. And stay he must, for his loss is too dear to afford and too painful to endure.
