Not to sound too negative or skeptic. But "Hundreds" of -stick label here- have been systematically murdered in Iraq since 2004! Not even news worthy

There aren't that many Gays in Iraq. So why is this drawing too much media attention?

Millions have been murdered in Iraq. Including women, children, even babies. More babies have been murdered than the total gay population in the Arab world.

And yet, HOW did they know that these tortured and murdered men are gay? Since political rape is a means to an end to some of these people. So how did they know some people were Gay and being targeted? Too particular to be true

I'm sorry but you do come across as negative and skeptical. Skepticism is good but not when it becomes a way to keep our eyes closed about injustices.

Yes, many more than gay Iraqis have been murdered in Iraq. And their murder is an obscenity that we should never forget. But this does not mean that we should not try to stop murders of gay Iraqis. They are part of the Iraqi population which getting slaughtered.

Targeting gay men for murder because they are gay is something that we need to speak up against clearly.

Perhaps you may be interested in reading the full report and not just the news article. I just posted a link to it.

Maybe you need to read the full report

If you read the report, you'd know that those affected by the campaigns aren't just gays but men that are seen as not masculine enough. Regardless of whether they are or not, anti-gay rhetoric has been really common, both among the militias and also some extremely stupid iraqi propaganda saying that the insurgents are gay.

If any group is being specifically targeted I think that merits addressing. If this post was about Iraqi doctors being assassinated would it bother you less?

nadia,

that's an interesting piece of information about the propaganda that the insurgents are gay. Scapegoating at its best!!
