Elias Khouri: On Political Language

Lebanese novelist Elias Khouri on the failure of language and its dangers. (in Arabic)

He's one of the rare leftist Arab intellectuals who is at least aware of how dangerous the current situation is in both Lebanon and Palestine and whose political discourse goes beyond distributing "You're a Traitor!" certificates right and left. Maybe because he's a novelist first and foremost.

Yes, he's a novelist, and I think he is right about the absence of natinonalist project (bawsala wataniyya--I like the expression!), but don't forget that Khouri started as a fighter on the side of the Palestinians in the Lebanese Civil War!!!

Hey, I recently added a news widget from www.widgetmate.com to my blog. It shows the latest news, and just took a copy and paste to implement. Might interest you too.
