Homosexuality in Saudi Arabia

Although sodomy is punishable by death in Saudi Arabia, a gay life is flourishing there quietly, according to this article.

The article is very accurate, it describes homosexuality in most middle eastern countries well.

My first impression of gay men were the Saudis at my Uni thirty years ago. I didn't believe it at first, but the other guys in the dorms explained that the racket going on (at all hours of the day and night)was their wild sex games. They weren't even very covert, which grossed the other guys completely out.

Oh, me likely. :-P

At any rate, I think it's interesting, homosexuality is interesting to me. Now I wonder are there going to be more incentives to rights LGBT communities in the Middle East? I would hope so.

Amal, what an interesting questions. I think the gay aspect out-grossed them, as well as the openness. In those days, there wasn't much anti-Arab sentiment, they were just another country with students. But I'm sure it spawned a legion of jokes that I never heard.
