Australian Muslims have qualified to take part in one of Australia's prominent cultural institutions: the beach life savers. The burqini is playing an important role in making that possible. It's about time.
It's worth mentioning in this context that Australia's most prominent diver is a Palestinian woman, Kholoud (Loudy) Turki. I don't know about you, but I'm glad she didn't wait till the invention of the burqini to participate in sport.
