Hirsi Ali Strikes Again

Whenever I see an article in The New York Times praising a feminist, I take notice. It makes me suspicious. I immediately think the woman must be a "special" kind of feminist. American media is not in the habit of heaping praise on feminists. Nope.
By a special feminist I mean someone like Hirsi Ali, for instance, who specializes in bashing Islam. There are plenty of Muslim, Islamic, and atheist feminists out there who are against all of the things Ali is against: female genital mutilation, honor killing, forced marriages, unequal treatment, fundamentalist religion and terrorism. But they will never be hailed as "brave" the way Ali is because they don't bash Islam. Not the way she does. Unlike what the title of this review of her new book, Infidel, says-- "No Rest for Feminist Fighting Radical Islam"-- Ali trashes all of Islam, not just radical Islam. She doesn't make distinctions, which is one reason she's so loved in conservative circles. She also insists on an organic connection between the "faith" and terrorism.
Add to that she's brown, a former Muslim, a victim, an escapee, and the receiver of death threats (she's also young, thin, and pretty) and you have a dream come true for the people at the American Enterprise Institute, where Ali is resting these days.
I wonder if she will change her tune that she's in the US now. The radical Islam she clashed with in Holland is not the dominant Islam in the US. Her shrillness may need to be tempered. I'm sure she'll be coached. Maybe then she can make a guest appearance on "Little Mosque on the Prairie"?

We'll see her on the O'Reilly show or variations on it...The question is: IS feminism without protection good for Muslim women?
ng
ng,
I don't understand the question. What do you mean "feminism without protection"?
I was half-serious! I guess what I wanted to address is the old-new question of misprision of the ideals of feminism and freedom of speech in the pursuit of personal self-gratification a la Ali and others before her and still more to come.

This has nothing to do with feminism, this is her 15 minutes of fame I hope they are worth it for her……… she keeps messing around with this subject she will find some crazy with devotion person that will deal with here like they dealt with her friend the director……………………………………
Me personally I take the weak side of jihad I just write about it
AT
AT,
"she keeps messing around with this subject she will find some crazy with devotion person that will deal with here like they dealt with her friend the director……………………………………"
I find this statement very troubling. No one, crazy with devotion, or plain crazy, has one iota of right to touch one of her hairs!! These criminals do far more damage to their religion than any thing Hirsi Ali will ever say.
That some people don't see that amazes me. How do you show that Muslims are not violent? You go out and kill those who say Muslims are violent. Ya, that makes lots of sense. Let her have her 15 minutes of fame. Let's debate her, disagree with her, ignore her, make fun of her. Some crazy guy with devotion stuck a knife in Naguib Mahfouz's nick without ever reading a word the man wrote. I don't think the guy who killed her friend the director saw the film.
What I'm trying to say is that while I don't like what she says, I do believe she has a right to say it and should not be slienced with murder or threats of murder.I'm on her side against the murderers.
