"It Sounds Sexist, But It's True"

Now, I know what I want for Christmas: a pink laptop that has a keyboard with "long-fingernail clearance," and a surface that "doesn't rub or trap makeup."

What the hell is "long-fingernail clearance"? And how does a laptop rub or trap makeup? What do women do with their laptops anyway? I guess I have to ask the guys at Best Buy.

Well this is like Islamic banking (which is no different from any other banking). People are willing to pay more for the same (or even an inferior) product if it makes them feel good.

In the world of geeks such products are termed: OMG!!! Ponies!!!
A term coined last year on April 1 2005 when a very serious geek site slashdot.org changed their design for the day

Hi Rabee,

It's also a case of constructing feminine identity while marketing to it. You were the first to notice my OMG ponies latent tendencies that my feminism tries to unnaturally suppress but they keep popping up in the form of OMG ponies links.

Unfortunately, I couldn't open the other link.
