A British Muslim woman wearing the niqab has been chosen to deliver Channel Four's alternative Christmas message. This message is usually "delivered at 3pm on Christmas day, the same time as the Queen's speech. The often imaginative subject matter outlines the irrelevance of the Queen's message."
Let's hope it's as bland as the Queen's message.

You may find it bland but it isnt correct to state it is irrelevant. Rather that you find it irrelevant. She remains a head of State. And approx 8 million Britons watch it. The alternative version is being hijacked to platform a single opinion on a debate worthy of more than one sided input wouldnt you say?
alison,
I do find the Queens statements generally bland, but I admit that I don't follow her closely. The word "irrelevant" is not mine; it is part of a quote, but if you press me I'd agree because the Queen is a figure head of the state afterall.
As to the choice of the Muslim woman, it all depends on what she has to say. And I do agree that the "debate" about Muslim women is many sided, but Muslim women who are being debated should be part of it.
